ORIGEN and ANDAR are the names of Especie Humana’s first two wool knitted sweaters. They are a tribute to the journeys we take, the marks that remain, and the stories woven into our everyday lives.
Both sweaters, one unisex and the other one for women, are knitted in Uruguay with 21-micron merino wool in raw, red, and black, and 23-micron Corriedale wool in its natural, undyed brown. A noble fiber, known for its softness, quality, and deep connection to Uruguayan textile identity.
Each piece carries an embroidered detail we call the trashumante motif: a visible detail in the knit that marks and decorates with meaning. Inspired by the ancestral technique of darning —once used to repair clothing and, over time, transformed into an aesthetic and design element— this detail isn’t meant to hide or fix anything. It remains in plain sight as a reminder that what shapes us doesn’t get erased, it becomes part of who we are today.
Each sweater is made to accompany you for years —and, if well cared for, to be passed on as Especie Humana heirlooms.
